About Exhorder

Formed in New Orleans in 1985, Exhorder's brand of thrash and groove metal helped shape the "Louisiana sound." They made a regional impression with their 1990 debut album, Slaughter in the Vatican. Following several personnel shifts, they offered a more technical sound on 1992's The Law. Following a tour, Exhorder underwent several hiatuses and eventually split up. Vocalist Kyle Thomas resurrected a new version of the band for select annual tours. Nuclear Blast signed the group in 2018, and after 27 years, they issued a third long-player, Mourn the Southern Skies, in 2019. The exercise in pummeling groove metal resonated with both old fans and new listeners. Exhorder toured the U.S. and Europe, making appearances at metal and hard rock festivals before the pandemic shut them down. They resumed touring in 2021, and in 2023 re-entered the studio. In March 2024, Nuclear Blast released their self-produced fourth album, Defectum Omnium.
